  38. Ald. Alex Brower of the 3rd aldermanic district was sworn in and gave remarks. The Common Council entered into the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing a number of presentations. There was no objection. The Milwaukee Academy of Science championship boys varsity team were recognized for winning the WIAA Division 3 boys state basketball title and were escorted by Ald. Bauman. Lesbian Visibility Week was recognized with remarks from Beverly Jenkins and appearances by others. They were escorted by Ald. Zamarripa and Burgelis. Twenty teachers were recognized as being 9th District Teachers of the Year. They were escorted by Ald. Taylor. The Common Council rose from Committee of the Whole.
