The following spoke to this item: - Chair George - Jeff Brown - Vanessa Burns, Public Works - Dirk Gowin, Public Works The following was discussed: - Crash rates and crime rates are higher at night - Crash data study was concentrated at night - The study examined crime and location to identify hot spots for additional lighting - Metro Government leases all roadway lighting from Louisville Gas and Electric Company - There are 20 hot spots for crash and crime locations - Hot spot #1 is Bardstown Road and Goldsmith Lane - Questions and concerns about future lighting standards - Question about a general time line of when the lights will be installed at the intersections - The project will begin in July and last for five years

A motion was made by Committee Member Piagentini, seconded by Vice Chair Benson, that this Ordinance be recommended for approval. The following spoke to this item: - Council President James - Don Woodcock, Yellow Cab - Robert Kirchdorfer, Code and Regulations - Chair George The following was discussed: - The last time Louisville's taxi/cab drivers received a fare rate increase was in February 2012 - Rates for taxis are regulated by Metro Government - The challenge is that the number of taxi/cab drivers has declined - Taxi/Cab drivers work between 14 and 18 hours a day - Gas prices have increased for drivers without an increase in fare rates - Question about fare rates compared to other cities A motion was made by Committee Member Piagentini, seconded by Vice Chair Benson, that this Ordinance be amended as shown in the attached document titled "O-139-22 V.2 CAM 041922 Amend LMCO 115.253 RE Fare Rates for Vehicles for Hire.pdf". The motion to amend carried by a voice vote.
