    Vice Chair Chambers Armstrong called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.

  2. Roll Call

    Vice Chair Armstrong introduced the committee members and non-committee members present. A quorum was established. Note: All committee members and non-committee members present attended virtually, except for Committee Member Dorsey and Committee Member Triplett.

  4. 1. A discussion with SOS Children's Villages USA regarding updates with their work in critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities in our city and around the world.

    Denise Sears, SOS Children's Villages USA ("SOS"), gave a presentation (see attached). The following spoke to this item: - Vice Chair Armstrong - Denise Sears - Committee Member Triplett - Chair Shanklin The following was discussed: - Questions were asked regarding where SOS gets there medical supplies from -- hospitals, clinics, and gently used donations from every day people -- examples were provided - All bio-medical equipment received from hospitals are tested by Bio-Medical Engineer's prior to deployment -- examples of the bio-medical equipment were provided - At the on-set of the COVID-19 Pandemic, SOS was providing ventilators to the local hospitals in Louisville - Personal experiences were shared - Questions were asked regarding whether the hospitals and medical institutions are aware of SOS and their efforts -- SOS collects from all of the larger hospitals locally such as Baptist East, Norton, and University of Louisville - Thanks was given to SOS for all of their efforts within the community

The following was discussed: - This Resolution is to honor Billy and Susan Johnson, the owners and operators of Johnson's Day Care -- there are two locations in South and Southwest Louisville -- examples of their services to the community were provided - Billy and Susan Johnson have been exemplary partners within the community The motion carried by a voice vote and the Resolution was sent to the Consent Calendar.

  9. 5. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 OF THE LOUISVILLE METRO CODE OF ORDINANCES (“LMCO”) TO ESTABLISH PAID LEAVE FOR LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WHO ARE VICTIMS OF A CRIME OR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

The following spoke to this item: - Council Member Purvis - Chair Shanklin The following was discussed: - Jerry Brinson was a life-time Portland resident - During Jerry Brinson's tenure in Portland, Jerry Brinson made many community contributions -- examples were provided - Jerry Brinson was the president of the First Division Police Auxiliary - Jerry Brinson was also the former president of the Portland Little League - District 5 wants to honor Jerry Brinson by naming the street after him in which he resided - Questions were asked regarding when the unveiling ceremony would be held as there is no listed date and time in the Resolution -- the family of Jerry Brinson has not yet decided upon a date and time for the ceremony but the Metro Council will be made aware once that is determined
