A motion was made by Chair Richardson, seconded by Member Gonzalez, to receive and file staff recommendations for the City's 2016 Federal Legislative Agenda and request staff to review the City's 2016 Federal Legislative Agenda to eliminate any redundancies and outdated statements; reorganize the Agenda to ensure that each Council directives correlates to the objectives under each focused category; change the following Council directives: [1] Economic Development No. 3 to include language adding any other streets that qualify for Federal funding, striked-out No. 13 to state support legislation that creates a more competitive business environment for all businesses in Long Beach, striked-out No. 16 to state support efforts to optimally position Long Beach to support high paying manufacturing jobs; and add a directive to support legislation and potential funding for administration of start-up Visas program; and [2] Public Safety Council Directive No. 7 to include language supporting human life; and return to the Federal Legislation Committee by end of December to be forward to the City Council for adoption.
