A motion was made by Member Johnson, seconded by Chair Lowenthal, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote:
- 2. Recommendation to approve the proposed changes to Title 6 of the Long Beach Municipal Code regarding the keeping of chickens, goats and bees.Agenda ItemAction: recommend Passed
A motion was made by Chair Lowenthal, seconded by Member Johnson, to approve recommendation with modifications that would allow up to four bee hives; establish a City sanctuary for rescued bees; allow a setback of ten feet from the property line for the keeping of bees and ten feet from adjacent dwellings for the keeping of goats and chickens; exclude a fee for the ownership of one to four chickens; define enforcement of animal cruelty; provide information about health concerns regarding bees; and forward to the City Council. The motion carried by the following vote:
